The School of Professional Studies is seeking a talented Media Specialist who is passionate about creating meaningful visual experiences. The Media Specialist will assist in the production of assets for new and existing SPS initiatives and support teaching and learning across a variety of disciplines. S/he will work with faculty, staff, and students to facilitate and curate content through the use of multiple techniques, modalities, and platforms.
A. Work with SPS stakeholders to assist in the creation of visual and audio assets for a variety of audiences
Work within appropriate standards as determined by the SPS Media Team for the creation of successful media assets in support of promotional and marketing goals
Assist in the production of video and audio content and in that capacity, play an active role in the proper transportation, set up, and wrapping of production equipment.
Assist in the production of live event coverage and remote recordings
B. Support the development and visual treatment of SPS academic content
Work within appropriate standards as determined by the SPS Media Team on the creation of successful media assets in support of determined learning objectives
Assist in the execution, support, and curation of media content in coalition with faculty, students, and administrators including instructional designers for effectively communicating complex pedagogical concepts.
Assist in the use, support and management of multiple technological tools and platforms such as Panopto, Canvas, Vimeo, YouTube, Livestream, Soundcloud, closed captioning services, stock footage and music, etc.
C. Support continuous improvement
Investigate best practice examples for media production
Support the ongoing effort to incorporate new technologies
Maintain and organize the storage and inventory of production equipment on an ongoing basis
Utilize creative decision-making about the incorporation of new and existing formats
Think critically about workflow and practice
Help identify creative solutions for process improvements
2 years related experience
Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent related experience required
Previous experience working within widely-accepted professional standards for camerawork, lighting and audio recording
Experience with various live streaming technologies and remote video recording
Experience with Panopto or other widely used educational media platforms
Experience with Accessibility issues
Experience with content development for a publisher, research or academic institution, an educational technology company, or other educational organization with commercially published products
Experience creating innovative media to support evidence-based instructional practice
Experience with various types of animation production, motion graphics, and compositing technologies
Experience with usability testing
Experience with video, audio, and/or still photography production work
Candidates should be able to provide a link to an online portfolio and / or other work samples
Demonstrated expertise with Adobe Creative Suite Software or similar, evidenced by portfolio
Creative problem solving skills
Ability to play an active role in multiple projects and communicate effectively with stakeholders on a cross-functional team and deliver results under prescribed deadlines and changing demands
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, project tracking, and customer service
Aptitude for the adoption of new practices and technologies
