The Director, Digital Content is a creative and innovative leader who develops digital content and teams to ensure the USC Radio Group classical music service reaches and engages loyal audiences on all digital platforms.Â Â S/he is responsible for strategic development and implementation of classical music digital content for USC Radio Group including KUSC, KDFC and other content.Â Â
Reporting to the Vice President, Content, the Director of Digital Content ensures that the USC Radio Group succeeds with audiences on all relevant platforms.Â Â The VP Content understands potential for audience service and growth on digital platforms and builds effective strategies for the future in a cost-effective and sustainable way.Â Â S/he oversees content development processes that are suitable to individual platforms. S/he identifies external digital content partnerships and producers and works with them on delivering innovative digital content to build new audiences for USC Radio Group. S/he is an experienced and inspiring team leader, responsible for professional and creative development of the digital content team. S/he is an experienced professional in the digital content space with the ability to assess best practices, trend-setting content and a track record in turning ideas into successful digital content. S/he understands how to assess success using industry-standard metrics. Overall, s/he is an individual who loves to invent and create.Â
Responsibilities and Duties
The major responsibilities and duties of this job include:
Articulates a long-term strategy for successful audience growth for USC Radio Group on all platforms.Â
Builds a yearly digital content plan that incorporates winning strategies for all relevant digital platforms: both owned and operated as well as branded social platforms.
Builds business plans that support growth.Â
Â Manages the USCRG digital content Budget.Â
Identifies digital content partnerships to enable growth.Â
Creates and ensures a healthy ongoing content development process that enables creative ideas and inspires creative people both internal and external to USCRG.Â
Implements and oversees a dynamic talent development process for digital platforms.Â
Â Builds a strong national and international network of digital content professionals to ensure USC Radio Group is on top of new trends and content approaches.Â
Creates a compelling digital content event strategy with yearly plans and develops key external partnerships to ensure high quality experiences for the USCRG audience.Â
Regularly assesses performance of all digital content using industry-standard tools and metrics.Â
Skills and Competencies
Affinity for classical music.
Understanding of digital content opportunities and challenges in the music space.Â
Demonstrated experience developing high quality content on digital platforms.
Demonstrated experience launching new digital content services and initiatives.Â

Deep understanding of best practises for social platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and others.
Deep understanding of best practices and experience creating online short-form video.

Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate experienced, creative individuals and teams.Â
Ability to create compelling cases for funding support of content in the public service, non-profit arena.Â
Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
Â Some classical music knowledge
Â Education level â Minimum Bachelorâs Degree, Preferred Masters degree or equivalent experience/education.Â
5 years practical, hands-on digital/video content creation.Â
3 years of experience as a digital team leader in the creative area of a complex media environment.Â
Budget Management expertise
Expertise in negotiation with external entities.Â
Knowledge of public service media mission and funding models.Â
Minimum Education: Master's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum educationMinimum Experience: 7 yearsMinimum Field of Expertise: Directly related program management experience. Expert knowledge of field, teaching experience and/or active in research. Ability to manage sponsored projects and fundraise.
