Lubbock Christian University's Department of Communication/Fine Arts seeks a highly qualified educator/scholar to teach undergraduate courses in the Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Music Education (BM) degrees beginning Fall 2020. The LCU Music area seeks faculty who can contribute to the mission of preparing students for their calling as Christ-centered music professionals, fully equipped for lives of Christian service and leadership.
Department of Communication/Fine Arts is home to Music, Art, Theatre, Foreign Language, and Communication. Four degrees are offered Music: BA in Music, BM in Music Education, BA in Music with a Business Emphasis, and BA in Music with a Pre-Music Therapy Emphasis. The area plans to add the BA in Music with a Worship Ministry Emphasis within the next year. The Music area houses four vocal ensembles and four instrumental ensembles.
Major Responsibilities: Applicants must be committed to undergraduate education and show promise of becoming an exceptional teacher who values mentoring and advising students. A normal teaching load is twelve hours per semester, and will include ensemble conducting, teaching courses, and labs. Scholarly activity, service, recruiting, and other duties as assigned are also expected of the successful applicant.
Education and Experience: An earned doctorate in music or closely related field is required. Persons with a master’s degree in music who are committed to pursuing a doctorate in music may be considered; however, the person will not become tenure-track eligible until completion of the doctorate. Applicants must be proficient in conducting, band repertoire, music theory, and music education.
All qualified applicants must be professing Christians and be active, faithful members of a congregation of the Churches of Christ and be willing to support the Christian mission and purpose of the university.
