Stone Ridge is seeking a Cross-Divisional Choral Music Teacher in the Performing Arts Department to begin August 1, 2020.
Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program (Little Hearts). The Cross-Divisional Choral Music Teacher will teach one section of Upper School chorus and four sections of Middle School chorus. The Cross-Divisional Choral Music Teacher will also lead and facilitate the work of the extracurricular, after school Middle School choir Bella Voce. Working with his/her colleagues in the Performing Arts Department, the Cross-Divisional Choral Music Teacher supports the coordination of performing arts programming, including the annual all-school Christmas Celebration, the annual Spring Festival, theatrical productions, and other performances opportunities in and outside of the school day. In addition, the teacher will lead Upper School Music Ministry and support all divisions in preparation for mass and prayer services in partnership with Campus Ministry.

The ideal candidate has experience teaching vocal instruction with both large and chamber ensembles, in independent and/or Catholic schools and possesses a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in music education. S/he has intermediate to advanced keyboard skills, specifically in vocal accompaniment. S/he demonstrates a record of successful teaching, joy in working with girls’ and arts education, and is comfortable teaching within the model of Understanding by Design. S/he demonstrates strong writing and communication skills, a capacity for organization and follow-through, creativity, and flexibility. S/he has a good sense of humor and enthusiasm for the school’s mission and culture.
