Assistant Professor in Music & Theatre and Assistant Director of Choral Activities
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Music & Theatre in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University seeks candidates for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor. The successful candidate is expected to develop and sustain high-quality scholarship and/or creative performance consistent with becoming a nationally recognized contributor to the music profession.
In addition, this position will serve in an administrative capacity as the Assistant Director of Choral Activities. The successful candidate will work with the Director of Choral Activities to maintain and further develop Iowa Stateâs noted choral tradition, including responsibility for various choral ensembles, and advising of student-led chamber choral groups.Â Â Possible other duties include studio voice classes, assisting with the music education curriculum in methods and materials, or other activities as needed by the department or as appropriate to the candidateâs background and experience.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Masterâs degree in music, performing arts, or related field.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the collegiate level.
Doctorate, or significant progress toward the doctorate in the form of ABDÂ
Evidence of ability to direct choirs and ensembles at the collegiate level
Publications, performances, workshops, or compositions in nationally or internationally recognized venues
Evidence of ability to work with diverse student, faculty, and staff populations
