Symphony Space, the non-profit, multi-disciplinary performing arts center at 95th Street & Broadway in New York City, seeks a dynamic Assistant Producer for Performing Arts Programs.
The Assistant Producer is a full-time position supporting the Director of Performing Arts in all aspects of event production. The Performing Arts Department produces over 70 events per season in music, talks, and family programs, with a strong emphasis on live music.
Creating offer letters and artist contracts
Keeping a detailed department calendar, including tracking deadlines
Creating programs and program notes for individual concerts
Advancing pre-production aspects of performances including content gathering (images, videos, bios, artist blogs, technical questionnaires, etc.)
Programming and updating shows on the Symphony Space website, and on internal calendars
Processing ASCAP/BMI payments, artist fees, and other invoices
Interacting with Marketing, Development, and Production Departments to disseminate information
Coordinating the scheduling of rehearsals and soundchecks for concerts and events
Overseeing artist services: hospitality, travel, and accommodations
Representing Symphony Space at select live performances as on-site producer
Overseeing department intern(s)
The ideal candidate is well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with:
a demonstrable interest in the arts, producing, and talent management
a passion for, and knowledge of live music
at least one year of event coordination/producing or equivalent experience
a proven ability to manage competing priorities
strong written and verbal communication skills
Candidates with a background in music management, performance, or booking will be given extra consideration. Please note that the job requires some evening and weekend hours.
