Eastern Florida State College is currently seeking applications for the full-time position of Executive Director at the King Center for the Performing Arts located on the Melbourne Campus in Melbourne, Florida.
Reporting to the college president and working closely with a DSO board of directors, the Executive Director will be responsible for the overall success and creative growth of the King Center, including the vibrancy of its programs and campus, quality of its resident and professional industry partnerships, financial stability, and impact. The Executive Director will oversee the King Center’s programming, strategic partnerships, development, marketing, financial management, production, and operations, as well as supervision and development of its human resources. The Executive Director will maintain an active presence in Brevard County and surrounding communities in order to build a strong brand, visibility, and financial support of the Center, working collaboratively with the DSO board and staff members, resident partners, other arts organizations and community members to fulfill the King Center and college’s mission.
The following minimum qualifications for this position must be met before any applicant will be considered:
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) from a regionally accredited institution.
Minimum of 5-7 years of increasing responsibility in a senior management role in an arts center or similar broad-based arts, culture, education, or community organization.
Possess a solid track record in donor stewardship and the successful solicitation of major gifts, as well as a strong command of the business of running a multi-disciplinary arts center, including theatre and financial management, staff development, and communication skills.
Must know how to work effectively with board members, staff, resident organizations, volunteers, and other community leaders and demonstrate a commitment to the center’s values of stewardship, excellence, inclusion, creativity, and respect.
Valid Florida Motor Vehicle Operator’s license required.
This position will require successful fingerprinting and the candidate chosen will be required to pay the associated fee (currently $37.25). The fingerprinting fee is non-refundable.

Ability to sit and reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, and climb or balance.
Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Works inside an office environment.
Works in noisy or loud sound environments.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Ability to occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move up to 25 lbs.
Work schedule varies based on event schedule and department needs, and will include all shifts days and/or nights including on weekends and holidays.
Occasional driving to other venues around the state.
