We are looking for an experienced radio host for weekday mornings with a passion for classical music and for the audience. The candidate must be an experienced broadcaster with a working knowledge of classical music.Â The position will involve extensive on-air hosting, social media/digital engagement and live events with our listeners and members of the arts community. Youâll be part of a team of amazing professionals discovering new and innovative ways to enrich peopleâs lives with classical music.
KDFC is part of the University of Southern California Radio Group, a network of 11 stations in Northern and Southern California reaching 1.3 million listeners each week.
This position is a program host for KDFC Radio, focused on weekday mornings as well as digital content and live events. There are additional hosting requirements for recorded programs on weekends as well as hosting during fund drives.Â Candidate must have a passion for and a basic knowledge of classical music, and the facility to pronounce classical names and titles appropriately. The host must be comfortable speaking in public and have a talent for presenting classical music to a broad audience. The person must have an engaging presentation style that can weave topical elements beyond classical music into a show effortlessly and be inviting to new and current listeners. Superior writing skills and experience on digital platforms are also required. Â Candidate must be able to work well with others and have experience working in radio, with an overall understanding of broadcast operations, programming automation systems, and digital media.Â
Demonstrated experience as radio host.
Basic knowledge of classical music repertoire, history, composers and performers.
Basic radio operation skills and knowledge of FCC regulations.
Knowledge of digital content writing and story-telling approaches.
