The Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering at Indiana University Bloomington invites applications for a tenured full professor position to begin in Fall 2020, with expertise relevant to the Department of Informatics Virtual Heritage (VH) track.
The track is devoted to interdisciplinary study of how information technology can be applied in pursuit of the traditional goals of cultural heritage professionals: the discovery, recording, restoration, analysis, interpretation, and transmission of three-dimensional human creations at all scales. Faculty in the VH track typically have training in a humanistic, social scientific, and/or engineering discipline, whose knowledge and methodologies they apply to teaching and innovative research.
The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background. Appropriate research interests include 3D digitization technologies in all forms, ranging from active approaches based on laser scanners and pattern projection devices to passive methods such as photogrammetry; 3D modeling from real data; Reverse Engineering and 3D Metrology, Virtual and Augmented interaction with 3D environments.
The position holder is encouraged to do teaching and research applying 3D technologies outside the VH domain, with special emphasis on interdisciplinary studies using 3D digitization and modeling.
Duties will include research, teaching, and service.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in a discipline connected with 3D digitization and modeling (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Bioengineering, Geomatics, etc.) and a significant record of research, teaching, and service.
A strong record in interdisciplinary research activities, including coordination of research projects, is a valuable additional qualification.
