Doctorate completed by September 1, 2020, for appointment to tenure track and the rank of assistant/associate professor.
ABD candidates will be considered for initial appointment at the rank of Lecturer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be expected to:
Teach applied trombone lessons to undergraduate and graduate students majoring in music.
Teach various styles including classical and jazz/commercial.
Coach and conduct the Trombone Choir.
Coach chamber music.
Maintain an active performance schedule.
Participate in various brass-area responsibilities.
Assist with outreach and recruiting for the Hayes School of Music.
Participate fully in the responsibilities of faculty membership, e.g., student advising, curriculum development, and service activities.
Demonstrate a commitment toward students of diverse musical backgrounds, perspectives, and interests.
Demonstrated excellence and experience in studio teaching at the collegiate level.
Evidence of outstanding and significant performance activities.
Intentional commitment to the preparation of music professionals to work in an inclusive and diverse world as demonstrated in professional interactions, service, curriculum, pedagogy, and scholarly or creative activity.
Evidence of recruiting at the collegiate level is desired.
