About UCSB Arts & Lectures
About Arts & Lectures
Recognized as one of the nation’s finest university-based presenters, Art & Lectures offers an exciting array of performing arts programs and lectures to the Santa Barbara community. Arts & Lectures is the largest presenting organization between Los Angeles and San Francisco, a program that features more than 150 events and programs every year. The 2017-18 season included artists and speakers such as Mark Morris Dance Group, Spain’s Compañía Nacional de Danza, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Audra McDonald, Chris Thile, Trevor Noah, Joe Biden, Joyce DiDonato and Condoleezza Rice. Arts & Lectures also produces an extensive educational outreach program that serves more than 30,000 community members with free concerts, lectures, a summer outdoor films series, and arts engagement opportunities for all ages. Visiting artists engage in residencies and master classes, visit classrooms for lively discussions, inspire critical thinking, and spark dialogue across the campus’s 45 academic and non-academic departments as well as in K-12 schools and the community.
Arts & Lectures recently completed a successful 5-year fundraising campaign, raising $30 million to exce...ed our initial goal of $20 million, and in Spring 2018 a highly successful fundraising event demonstrated once again the high profile of Arts & Lectures within the philanthropic community, as well as the strength and stability of the organization.
