The University of Texas at Austin seeks an Executive Director for Texas Performing Arts, (TPA) one of the largest and most commercially successful university-based arts presenters in the U.S. The Executive Director will ensure regional and national prominence for TPA through strategic leadership, programmatic vision and entrepreneurial financial and operational management.
The Executive Director manages the finances and oversees all operations of Texas Performing Arts, including artistic, academic, community relations and patron experience, fundraising, marketing, programming, operations, production and finance. Fundraising through memberships, donor circles, sponsorships, grants, and major giving are all critical and growing responsibilities of the position.
As an academic support program, TPA manages three venues in the College of Fine Arts, including Bass Concert Hall (2,900 seats), McCullough Theatre (395 seats), and the Oscar G. Brockett Theatre (244 seats) as well as state-of-the-art production shops. TPA also supports occasional events in the B. Iden Payne Theatre (459 seats) and Bates Recital Hall (600 seats).
The professional staff and production shops of TPA build and support twelve mainstage productions each year for the Butler Opera Center and the Department of Theatre and Dance. The staff and shops are integrated with the curricula of the Department of Theatre and Dance and are increasingly becoming interwoven with the recently founded Department of Arts and Entertainment Technologies.
A minimum of seven years of executive administrative experience in performing arts presenting, venue management or production in a public, nonprofit, or commercial context, with demonstrated skills in leadership, fundraising, strategic planning, financial management, and communication. Ability to manage a large and diverse staff. Ability to work cooperatively and constructively with staff, University administration, community members, the media, and the arts community.
