Title: Artistic Production Manager

The Organization: In its 52 years The Choral Arts Society of Washington established, and now maintains, a dedication to excellence. Choral Arts receives frequent invitations to perform with the National Symphony Orchestra and other world-class orchestras, including London Symphony, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, The Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Mariinsky Orchestra. Choral Arts is committed to connecting choral music to the country’s growing diversity. This is achieved through performing choral music reflective of the world with an attention to authenticity, and through a variety of inspiring programs managed by Choral Arts’ education department.
Today Choral Arts comprises two performing groups: the Choral Arts Chorus, a symphonic chorus featuring 180 singers; and the Choral Arts Chamber Singers, a small ensemble of voices launched in the 2014-2015 season. Led by Artistic Director Scott Tucker, Choral Arts produces an annual concert season at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and venues throughout the region.
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Artistic Director, this position directs and executes artistic operations and production needs to ensure successful production of all artistic projects and appearances.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Serve as production manager for concerts: primary liaison with venues (booking, insurance, contracts, and security); develop and execute schedules; facilitate guest artists and ensembles (contracts, travel, and accommodations); work with orchestra contractors; act as stage manager (personnel, placement, movement, lighting schematics, and stage plots); instrument and equipment rentals, etc.
- Manage all production needs for guest appearances with outside organizations (contracts, production details, performance materials, travel, schedules, etc.)
- Ensure all royalties and permissions are reported and paid to appropriate agencies
- Prepare, manage, and track budgets for all productions and chorus management needs
- Maintain organizational performance archives (print/audio/video)
- Develop chorus, orchestra, and final rehearsal schedules in conjunction with the artistic director
- Organize and maintain orchestral performance material library
- Supervise the work of the Chorus Manager to ensure that the needs of the performing ensembles are met (rehearsal space, roster management, volunteer chorus management, performance materials, auditions, etc.)
- Compile and edit Playbill and non-Playbill programs
- Oversee all logistics of Touring, Commissions, and Recordings (contracts, schedules, personnel, etc.) as the organization undertakes them
