The Assistant Director of Development at Carolina Performing Arts (CPA) will dedicate her/his time to the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of annual gifts to advance CPA’s mission: to curate and present exceptional arts experiences that inspire and provoke the UNC community and beyond and celebrate the intrinsic value of the creative process. This position will secure private funding from prospects and donors at the leadership annual giving level of $1K and more; Write, secure and steward grants to generate resources that will support CPA’s top priorities; Create a strategic comprehensive development plan for leadership annual giving, corporate and foundation gifts and grants; Maintain an active pipeline of qualified individual and corporate prospects and donors; Engage and motivate donors, volunteers, faculty, administrators and staff at performances, and donor events as appropriate; Staff and support the International Advisory Board and two committees; Plan fundraising and stewardship events, particularly as they relate to annual gift prospects and donors; Foster collaborative pan-university development efforts between Carolina Performing Arts and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Local and regional travel, evening and some weekend work are required.
Qualifications & Experience
Three to five years of experience in annual giving, grant writing and management or closely related field. Successful track record in annual fundraising in higher education or the arts is preferred. Strong verbal and written communications skills. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and judgment. Ability to interact effectively in comprehensive environment such as a research university setting with donors, faculty, staff and volunteers. Exhibits the highest standards of professionalism and performance as evidenced by integrity, initiative, collaborative teamwork, critical thinking, accuracy, consistency, timeliness and attention to detail. Commitment to Carolina Performing Arts’ mission is highly desired.
