The Assistant Technical Director assists the Technical Director, or in the absence of the Technical Director, as as Technical Director, in the operation and planning for the Anderson Center complex in the areas of lighting, sound, stage work, supervision, organization and maintenance.
Bachelor’s degree or higher required, with a concentration in technical theater preferred.
2-5 years professional experience in similar position.
Ability to work as a team member in a collaborative environment, conducting and presenting themselves in a professional manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
Possess excellent communication skills with ability and willingness to train students of various levels of proficiency.
Strong collaborative skills, working with professional staff and faculty.
Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment.
Ability to work comfortably at heights on a ladder, Genie lift, or catwalk.
Ability to supervise student and Union work crews.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including day, evening and weekend hours.
Possess sufficient strength and stamina to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Proficient in one or more of the follow areas: Live Sound, Theatrical Lighting, Video Operation and Stage Rigging.

The Anderson Center for the Performing Arts is a multi-venue theater complex located on the campus of Binghamton University in Vestal, NY. Since opening its doors in 1985, the Anderson Center has built a reputation as the premier performing arts venue in the region, hosting upwards of 175 events and 100,000 guests annually. Programming ranges from world-renowned symphonies to student soloists, pop and rock concerts to dance troupes, opera and ballet, international theater to undergraduate showcases, and just about everything in between.
