Pitt-Bradford is a four-year regional campus of the University of Pittsburgh located in the rural setting of Northwestern Pennsylvania. Pitt-Bradford Arts consists of three unique series: Prism (professional touring), Spectrum (curriculum based) and Kaleidoscope (children and family) that present on average 25 performances a year of various sizes and genres. Other programming of both internal groups and external rentals adds approximately 55 additional events annually. The Bromeley Family Theater is a 514-seat house with multiple stage reconfigurations to accommodate additional seating up to 600. The KOA Gallery is adjacent to the theater and runs approximately 8 exhibits throughout the academic year.
The technical director will operate, maintain and assume responsibility for the performance and technology operations of a performing arts center, which is an active presenting organization and home to the university’s theater, music, art, and communication arts programs. This involves supervising and maintaining the stages and shop areas; preparing for load-in, running, and load-out of all center events; recruiting, training, and supervising stagehands; designing and executing, or assisting in the design and execution, of sets, lights and sound for all Division of Communication and the Arts productions; and instructing proper techniques of stagecraft. The technical director will maintain the highest safety standards and will coordinate the scheduling, distribution, and set up of technical equipment.
Bachelor’s degree in Technical Theater and five years of increasing responsibility in comparable position or a Master’s of Fine Arts degree in Technical Theater with two years of experience.
