Alliance Artist Management seeks a dynamic, hard-working and self motivated candidate for the position of Booking Associate. AAM specializes in live performance with a roster of 18 ensembles including Cantus, The Crossing, Jordi Savall, Roby Lakatos, So Percussion, The Tallis Scholars, Venice Baroque Orchestra, and Vox Luminis, among others. Established in 2006 by Rob Robbins with its office in New York, AAM contracts hundreds of performances and residencies annually with a full time staff of three, professional services contractors, and interns.
Responsibilities: Candidate will book concert performances and tours for all AAM ensembles in a specified region, marketing to presenting organizations and orchestras by phone, email, direct mail and face-to-face communication. Duties will include attending both national and regional booking conferences during the course of the booking season. Candidate will work closely with the principals to strategize and design marketing plans and career paths for the roster ensembles. S/he will keep abreast of industry and territory activity and news as it impacts AAM and its roster. Skills reuired (or to be developed) include:
• Ability to follow leads and convert them into confirmed bookings. • Negotiating all aspects of engagements with presenters into successful engagements. • Maintaining a perspective of artist needs and presenter objectives when soliciting offers. • Developing and maintaining professional relationships with presenting institutions. • Being both persuasive and a good listener. • Researching and cultivating new performance opportunities. • Problem Solving with a levelheaded approach.
Qualifications: Applicants should have at least two years of professional experience in classical music and performing arts, either in artist representation or presenting, and preferably with sales experience. Applicants should be high energy, possess excellent writing and verbal communication skills, well organized and adept at time management. The ideal candidate will have a healthy knowledge of classical music and an awareness of contemporary art and concert music trends. Foreign language skills a plus. Candidate must be willing and able to travel as required approximately four weeks per season and be prepatered to attend concerts locally as needed.
Training: Job training will be provided. Candidates must also seek to expand his/her knowledge of the performing arts industry by reading relevant news and publications, listening and attending live performances.
