The Production Manager directs the technical operations of Nazareth College’s multi-venue Arts Complex, which includes project planning, lighting, sound, rigging, projection and other equipment support for touring shows, academic productions/concerts, and rentals, as well as maintenance of all equipment.
This position manages a technical team, including staff, student and community stage hands and is an integral member of the staff.
Provide strategic direction to optimize the technical operations of the Arts Complex. Includes design and implementation of the venues’ technical operations, and recommendations for future facility improvements and equipment purchases.
Direct all stage operations (set-up, sound, lighting, rigging) for all events in the Arts Complex (touring productions, academic performances, other college events, rental events).
Hire, train and supervise all technical staff including students and community stagehands.
Manage guest touring productions’ technical needs and expectations. Review all technical riders of guest artists to plan appropriate allocation of resources and assess costs for rental of additional equipment as necessary. Ensure external touring production companies adhere to Nazareth’s policies and procedures.
Work proactively and collaboratively with faculty and staff of the academic performing arts departments to support successful academic productions and concerts.
Policy creation & adherence relative to stage operations
Maintain all technical equipment. Function as on-hand consultant for College events as needed in area of technical expertise.

Required Education, Experience, Technology Applications and Skills
A bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of work experience in the technical aspects of performing arts or comparable experience; or a combination of experience of education
Proven skills in set-up, operation and maintenance of stage lighting, rigging and sound equipment.
Must have at least 1 year of proven supervisory or managerial capability.
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to attend to and prioritize projects.
Ability to successfully manage interpersonal working relationships. As appropriate, collaborate with staff in other units and divisions to achieve the goals of the College.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Handles confidential information sensitively and appropriately.
