Scottsdale Arts is looking for a visionary team leader with a proven track record of presenting innovative performing arts programming. Our Director of Performing Arts will build upon existing and create new relationships to further our mission to develop, advance and deliver high-quality arts and cultural experiences that improve quality of life for residents and position Scottsdale as a destination city for visitors. This position is responsible for:
the conceptualization and implementation of annual performing arts programming in on-site venues including an 850-seat main stage theater, 137-seat black box theater, 1800-seat amphitheater and other outdoor spaces, as well as programming off-site in larger Valley venues.
strengthening our ties to the communities we serve through effective partnerships and engagement strategies.
leadership of dynamic teams including programming, production/tech, artist services, and guest services which includes rentals, festivals, F&B and retail.
serving on the Senior Management Team and working closely with the President, divisional and departmental directors on strategic planning and brand development plus identifying outreach, fundraising, marketing and cross-divisional collaboration opportunities.
support of and participation on the Scottsdale Arts Board of Trustees, and oversight of the Center’s Advisory Board.

Knowledge and abilities needed to be successful in this position include:
a proven track record of presenting a diverse mix of programming for a multi-faceted performing arts organization or arts venue, including knowledge of current dance, classical, Broadway, jazz and other contemporary artists with local, national and international experience, plus experience strengthening special events and festivals
exceptional communication skills, with particular emphasis on interaction with staff at all levels, community stakeholders and municipal entities.
strong fiscal responsibility including budgets and forecasting for division and inter-divisional activities
strong collaborative capabilities to work within a multi-layered organization to maximize artistic and educational programming.
excellent organizational abilities with a strong initiative-driven method of work production.
A proven capability of working with database-driven information (Tessitura knowledge extremely helpful).
the ability to lead, influence and negotiate.
experience achieving or exceeding ticket sales goals and growth of revenues.
demonstrated success in meeting department/organizational goals.
This position requires a bachelor’s degree along with eight to 10 years of experience with progressively increasing responsibility and oversight of a performing arts division or organization. A minimum of three years of that experience must include active supervision and leading of others to reach departmental goals. The ability to work flexible hours is required.
