Encore is currently seeking a highly motivated professional leader to become the Executive Director for the organization. This person will provide executive leadership, management and strategic planning for all business affairs, be actively involved in developing non-profit programming as well as continuing to build a comprehensive schedule with professional artists. This person should have an accomplished entertainment and facility management executive track record of success in leading organizations, driving revenues and creating new opportunities for entertainment companies and venues. Candidates must show a minimum of 10 years of experience from the facility management, producing, promoting and touring segments of the industry. Additionally, the candidate should show knowledge of running a non-profit and managing programming and staff to deliver the services to the community to meet the mission. A bachelor’s degree or better is required.
The successful candidate will be a forward-thinking, energetic, and visionary leader with a minimum of ten years’ non-profit arts management experience. S/he will have:
Detailed knowledge of presenting and performing arts organizations and centers
A track record of success achieving and exceeding annual fundraising goal.
Strong experience building and leading a team of senior staff
Extensive skills in the development of budgets and financial management
Superb oral and written communications skills
Demonstrated skill in motivating staff to achieve long-term and short-term priorities
Ability to create and sustain a team-oriented environment
Ability to maintain effective and respected relationships with trustees, appointed and elected officials, donors, audience members, other arts organizations, and the general public
Experience with the physical and logistical requirements of performing arts, visual arts, and education facilities
An MBA, while not required, will be considered an asset
Fundraising is a major responsibility of the Executive Director. S/he ensures that Encore Performing Arts Cents has a dynamic fundraising program that allows the organization to achieve and exceed goals for contributed income. S/he takes an active role in the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of donors from all sources, including individuals, foundations, corporations, and government.
The successful candidate will have the ability to make independent judgments with highly significant public and fiscal impact. S/he will be a collaborator and team builder with excellent organizational, supervisory, and human relations skills. S/he will have a strong patron service focus.
The successful candidate will have a high level of initiative, creativity, and energy. S/he will have the ability to work independently and the self-direction to initiate, coordinate, and complete tasks. The successful candidate will be willing to relocate to the Pontiac area and commit fully to the community.
